Registration Dates and Times

Toy registration is open to families with children aged 15 years old or younger from the following zip codes: 60110, 60118, 60120, 60121, 60123, 60124, 60136, 60140, and 60177. 

Registration will take place at the Salvation Army Elgin Corps offices on the following dates and times:

Items Needed for registration

Please bring the following to register:

  • Picture ID: Picture ID for the adult that is registering the children. The adult must have legal custody of the the children they are registering for.

  • Proof of Address: Proof of current address. This can be a utility bill, lease, pay stub, government document, etc. with your name and address.

  • Child’s ID: An ID for all children age 15 and under being registered (toys are guaranteed for children 12 and under; ages 13-15 depend on availability). This must be a document with the child’s name, date of birth, and parents’/guardians’ name(s) on it (i.e. birth certificate, Medicaid letter, etc.).

  • Proof of Need: Proof that you are financially in need. This can be an SSI letter, Medicaid Card, SNAP Card, or documentation of emergency (i.e. medical bills, car repair receipts, etc.).

Toy Pick-up

Elgin’s Hope for the Holiday’s toy recipients will a confirmation letter at their registration appointment containing a unique Family Code Number and the date and time to pick up toys. Please retain this confirmation letter. When you come to receive your toys, you will need to have your picture ID and your Family Code Number listed on your confirmation paperwork. Toy pickup will be at the Salvation Army Elgin Corps offices between December 15th and 16th.

Because of COVID-19 protocols and the large number of families we expect to serve, we encourage you to make every attempt to retrieve your toys at the day and time listed on your paperwork. If for some reason you cannot pick up your toys at the listed time, please email us at
